  1. The Royals seem to be trying a Massey/Loftin platoon at second, and I'm really liking it. I've definitely been on the side of being more excited about Massey - who played pretty well in a limited sample last year after returning from injury - than India. And, after Spring Training, I was more excited about Loftin, too. It sounds like India's injury might be more serious than anyone realized at the start. That's unfortunate for him, but might work out just fine for the team if Massey and Loftin keep helping them win.
  2. Always add the bro, bro. I'm right there with you. This lineup is a lot better if Sal is batting sixth or seventh and Carter is the obvious choice to move above him. I'd also slide up Collins and his OBP along with Jac's not-great-but-still-better OBP.
  3. I 100% believe the offense is going to improve from the current marks and over last year. Need everyone to just relax and do their thing, if they all start pressing again things could go downhill fast if the hitting coaches fail the test.
  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the footing issue could have been a significant contributing factor to his bad night. I look forward to seeing how he looks on Thursday.
  5. I'm very glad the Royals kept Loftin over Waters. There's enough in Loftin's profile to give me hope for his future. Waters just offers me basically nothing.
  6. Erceg isn't a lefty, and while I generally want to be generous with writers because we all make mistakes, that's the kind of mistake that makes me question if this article was written with AI and the integrity of the entire website.
  7. Well, the Astros are said to want a right-handed outfield bat. But I'm not convinced a contender wants him. Even less convinced now that we know why things went so very south in Philly.
  8. I'm not so sure he'd be willing to take a part time role. He seemed pretty upset about having to take one in Philly and some other team might promise him lore ABs
  9. This makes a lot of sense, even if I would be pretty bummed to lose Bubic in a trade that didn't bring back someone I'm truly excited about. Morejon ALMOST reaches that plateau, but not quite. Also, Ranger Suarez pitched for the Phillies last year. I'm not sure who you're thinking of that left the Padres, but it wasn't him.
  10. I don't think I can buy that Kolek - who is older, gets fewer whiffs, and has less control remaining, is more valuable than Bergert. But at least they're close.
  11. At this point, I don't even want Duran anymore. Collins was a better hitter last year and while Duran projects better I question why Boston wants rid of him so bad. I think there might be something there we aren't seeing.
  12. I don't know how much y'all can control, but on mobile the ads prevent me from seeing most of the votes table. Also, I find it unconscionable that y'all didn't vote for all of HDH
  13. If the Brewers get something more out of Zerpa, good for them. It wasn't going to happen in KC, so it still isn't a loss for KC, just a win for him.
  14. I cannot believe the Royals got an outfielder who hit better than Duran last year for only Angel Zerpa. And they replaced one enigmatic reliever with another at the same time! Fantastic trade for KC.
  15. I thought I'd be willing to go for him if he's cheap, but after reading this, maybe not. Also, he's probably not that cheap.
  16. I'm all in favor of Luis Robert with two caveats. They can't pay much in a trade and he can't be the highlight of the offseason. He's a bounce back candidate, not an answer. Your trade proposal works for me, I don't know if it does for the White Sox because I think they think he should have more value than that.
  17. Ramon Ramirez being a top prospect but profiling more like a backup catcher reminds me why I hate getting excited about prospects.
  18. I knocked Salvy's salary down because of deferrals and non-tendered India. In this scenario, the Royals can't get a platoon partner for Cags, but if he falters, they can just start Frazier. At least they'd have one competent outfielder in Bellinger. I trade away Zerpa and Schreiber for prospects to help fill the farm system and save money, add Soto for a power lefty, and I still end up well over-budget but I think the Royals are going to have to go over-budget if they want to win, and I think they will, with the expectation they can spend less later as their farm system continues to improve under Bridges. C: Carter Jensen ($0.8M) 1B: Vinnie Pasquantino ($5.40M) 2B: Jorge Polanco ($14.0M) 3B: Maikel Garcia ($4.80M) SS: Bobby Witt Jr. ($13.70M) LF: Cody Bellinger ($28.0M) CF: Kyle Isbel ($2.70M) RF: Jac Caglianone ($0.80M) DH: Salvador Perez ($7.5M) 4th OF: John Rave ($0.80M) Utility: Adam Frazier ($2.5M) Utility: Tyler Tolbert ($0.80M) Backup C: Luca Tresh ($0.80M) SP1: Cole Ragans ($4.60M) SP2: Michael Wacha ($18.00M) SP3: Kris Bubic ($6.00M) SP4: Seth Lugo ($23.00M) SP5: Noah Cameron ($0.80M) RP: Carlos Estevez ($10.10M) RP: Lucas Erceg ($0.80M) RP: Luinder Avila ($0.8M) RP: Taylor Clarke ($1.90M) RP: Gregory Soto ($8.0M) RP: Steven Cruz ($0.8M) RP: Jonathan Bowlan ($0.80M) RP/SP: Stephen Kolek ($1.0M) Payroll is 12.06% over budget
  19. I hadn't given Daniel Vazquez any consideration before the AFL, but showing up with some power there will have me watching him closely this summer.
  20. I was always a Bubic believer and people kept telling me I was crazy. But I loved his approach to the craft. If Black has a little of that, I think he can thrive with this coaching staff.
  21. Massey might not be healthy, but Adam Frazier is. And if the Royals don't re-sign him I'll eat my hat.
  22. FWIW, India ended up at about $7 million this year after incentives. He's probably going to get closer to $10 in arbitration next season. The Royals HAVE to move on from him. But I hope they can do better than Pham or Refsnyder to improve the lineup...
  23. Blake was rated higher, but Carter was always closer. The injury definitely slowed Blake down, but Carter was always probably going to get to KC first.
