    Hi. Just want to add that he's shown flashes of hitting well. I'm not sure but I think he starting hitting well towards the end of last year. And his rookie year was decent. Anyway, I hope he at least bats .225 with 11HR, & good D' like you said an infield version of Isbel. Just to hold the fort down until someone successfully fills the void.

    It was insightful reading this article because Q's lineup platooning/ line-up changes was driving me bonkers. You explained the process very well. There were some things that was going on with players that wasn't clear to me that you clarified as to why the manager is doing what he's doing. And some of the players slumps explain his dilemma.

    Great article. I enjoyed reading about all the hitters that are finally starting to put it together. All the other performers that did well. I was big on India,, and it's so unfortunate. I had him in fantasy, and was counting on a solid year from him but what a waste the India experiment turned out to be. Kind of unfortunate cause Massey can't hit and is always injured. It's been like what,... 5 years now he can't solidify his stake on 2B.? Then one day they'll let him go and some other teams batting coach will tweek something in his swing and he'll turn into a Ryan OHearn or MJ Melendez for another organization. The KC hitters for the most part are underperforming and when they are let go, out of KC, they succeed elsewhere. This is just a small sample of players, but Go figure. 5 years can't get it together, then 6 months later sign with another team and bam! Their living up to their potential .SMH! Something to at least look into by the organization. Anyway I hope they turned the corner with this sweep of the Mariners.

    This article should be on Royals Manager Matt Quatraro’s desk for him to read first thing Monday morning. It is statistically sound, data-driven, and offers practical, common-sense solutions. When the lineup remains unchanged despite clear evidence, one has to wonder how engaged the organization’s management truly is with its Analytics Department. The insights presented in this piece are the kind of valuable information that should have already been flagged by the analytics team, the hitting coaches, or senior management. Yet, as of now, no meaningful adjustments have been made. Salvador Perez, for example, should arguably be batting in the fifth spot based on the data outlined in the article. The fact that this change hasn’t occurred suggests the Royals are not effectively utilizing the analytical resources available to them. As a result, the team’s offense has struggled out of the gate, and the Royals continue to hover around .500. It’s perfectly acceptable to be an old-school manager in many respects, but even traditionalists benefit greatly from embracing data. The most effective managers are those who successfully blend experience and intuition with modern analytics. Having read numerous similar analytical breakdowns over the years, it seems the Royals’ front office and coaching staff could pay closer attention to these types of studies. While the organization has publicly stated that it values analytics, the on-field results and lack of lineup adjustments make it difficult to see that philosophy being applied in practice.

    Looking back at this video, I don't know how I feel about what the Royals did. I'm glad they kept all their pitching depth, but I still have questions if they did enough. I felt they could of signed one of those many mid tier bats(Yastremski, Austin Hays, Reifsnyder, etc,,. They did pick up Thomas on a serious overpay, and Collins on a trade was a solid great moves but we need more time to see how they plays out. The outfield has improved, barring Q's choices of lineup, as he manages to overplay guys like Lofton, etc, guys that traditionally hover around .200 BA, .285 OBP, SMH!, but it has improved, the question is by how much? They might have an actual league average outfield now, with nothing special. Sorry, and I hope I'm wrong but I still think Cags needs time and will still bat around .215 BA, .285 OBP,.. 15-18 HR, . I also wonder why did Milwaukee so easily trade Collins as his numbers demonstrate more potential/success in his first year than to just be traded for a bullpen arm coming off a mediocre year, along with a equally successful bullpen arm in Mears included in the trade. Was there a behavioral issue. I don't know why so many are down on Collins, as I like his stats, along with his relatively high OBP, that KC lacks those type of hitters.

    I've been very high on him since he's been drafted. He's going to be a solid mid rotation guy. I hope he doesn't get traded. Barring injuries, he'll make the rotation, likely taking the spot of Wacha, or Lugo, in the next coming years.

    This updated and detailed info on all the minor league teams in review is one of my favorite features cause I like to find in one place how their "future" is doing. Encouraging to see who's doing what, performing well, etc. For example, reading on him, I hope Mozzicato continues his success so he can salvage his career in KC. He has great enough stuff just bad command, to were he can easily end up being one of those that KC gives up on, then they go on to play somewhere else and somehow their coaching staff figures out what's wrong, tweeks a thing or two and they go on to have a resurrected career somewhere else, ( Junis, Keller, also can't think of his name at the moment but the 1B, KC let go to Baltimore and now he's in San Diego, etc., etc. ) . Anyway, if he can have a few more outings like this, it could mean, he has improvement and it could be sustainable positive results.

    I never looked at Q quite possibly being on the hot seat this early, but this is a legit possibility presented here. It could happen sooner than we think. Let's hope it doesn't get to that. I sometimes see moments when I wonder if he's the guy to take the Royals to the next level. Yes he's competent and made them competitive but he oft seems uninspiring, very stoic, etc, and that doesn't necessarily mean anything negative, just an observation. He's not innovative let's say, he's very predictable in his lineups and managing the bullpen. So far this season looks earily similarly to last year with the hovering around .500 all year. Anyway, Good article, thank you for good reading.

    Good point. Lofton has had a good spring and a start to the season. Let's hope he figured a thing or two to make him more consistent. Thank you for the input. Just tired of seeing sup par batting and OBP, in the outfield. Just seemed like everyone, no matter who they brought in, Canha, Grichek, Rave, Waters, etc etc, they were all around .200 BA, .270 OBP, and Melendez Jr. How can I forget him, I would watch the box score every day and at one point, it just seemed like every game he was 0 for 4, or 0 for 3. I was paying attention to that for a while and I was wondering how could they still have this "hole' in the lineup for such a long, stretch but I guess they see things I couldn't see and they were hoping for a return on their investment, I can't blame them for that cause I remember when they first started playing Moose back in the day, their was one year that he was just miserable at the plate but they kept him in their irregardless, and it eventually paid off. Had he been in another team like the Yankees, they probably wouldn't have that patience with him and his career would of played out differently.

    Yes, agreed. And they cannot afford to go a month into the season with all their role players, Collins, Thomas, Marte, Lofton, including Cags, Jenson, etc etc, batting an abysmal below .200., like last year. Zumalt has to check that somehow. It's only the three games but a few of them guys are already coming out the gate cold. But they should be fine don't you think? the outfield, although no stars, yet (maybe Cags) is much deeper than last year. If they can just have league average seasons, they will be better than last year.

    I hope Mozzicato puts it all together and figures it out cause he does have so much potential. Interesting how working with him for 4+ years, they haven't been able to improve his command. Hopeful he surprises this.

    I hope Waters is able to hit a little better so he can work his way back into a team even as a 4 outfielder.

    The guy is always injured and must be made out of glass. Can't say they didn't give him more than enough "years" to make 2B his, to solidify himself, however, he wasn't able to.

    I'm relieved to see that they weren't swept. It should have been KC 2-1 in the series. The second game was in the bag but now they see that Estevez, a historically slow starter isn't ready yet. They played that game well and thru a fluke, they lost. The important thing is that they came back the very next game and showed their resilience and a culture of bouncing back and winning.

    Ragans is going to figure it out, barring injuries, but more concerning is the lineup. It barely had a pulse. I hope they figure it out right away cause losses such as this one, last year, ended up dragging for weeks at a time. The lineup last night looked pretty good., no Rave, no Isbel, Lofton, etc etc, it was just all proven hitters from top to bottom. And that's without everyone's super boy Cag's in the lineup. Today should be allot better. Ragans will be better.

    This is a solid bunch. I can see Beam & Gamble moving consistently fast thru the system. But I hope in the next few years, they are all donning a Royals uniform.

    Mozzicato keeps sinking in the ranking. When they picked him, he wasn't even on any other team's radar for at least the first 2 rounds, so I remember the announcers were surprised by the pick cause Kumar Rocker was on the board and he was next to be predicted to be picked & the Mets snatched him up the very next pick, so it was a helluva reach to begin with. Moving to the bullpen might be the next move for him, cause his SP stats are atrocious. I think it was last yr, he had more walks than strikeouts. I remember Dan Reichert another KC #1, had a similar season in which he had more walks than SO. But. Moz.. was in the minors, Reichert was in the majors. I'm not sure if Mozz is back with Omaha, but I hope he pulls it together cause he does have nasty stuff.

    I hope Falter has a decent half season to at least be able to trade him at the deadline for a player or two. KC gave up Sisk & Moss for him, last time I checked, they were doing well so I'm hoping we can receive a serviceable, half season of play from him, and then keep him, or trade for a player or 2 to stock in the Minors. So it will not be a total wash, and that they recoup something on the investment.

    I had high hopes for Waters at one point, but he can't transfer his minor league success to mlb pitching. Massey, & MacArthur injured, what's new. Lofton is another one that can't transfer his hitting to the majors that I was ok with Rojas breaking with the team because of his high OBP. Lofton is always south of .300 OBP, but I understand the business side to these moves.
