The Naturals chipped two more runs back in the third on RBI singles from Sam Kulasingam and Jorge Alfaro. The biggest frame came in the bottom of the fourth. Canyon Brown opened it with a solo home run to left, and later in the inning, Sam Kulasingam lashed a two-run single that gave the Naturals a 7-6 lead. Wichita took the lead right back in the top of the fifth with a two-run home run, then added an insurance solo shot in the eighth for a 9-7 final. In the bottom of the ninth, Jose Cerice singled, and Asbel Gonzalez followed with a walk-off single to center that scored Cerice for a 6-5 win. A Monarchs-themed design would literally have me throwing money at MLB.

This is a pretty big nope from me. I don't despise the CC jerseys like many, but few of them really appeal to me, either. The Royals' home whites are so good, I'll just never understand why this exists.

And while I'm here: I watched the second half of yesterday's game, and my expert analysis is "yuck". Not the team or anything, just that game.

I'm leaning away from trying to maintain game threads this season due to the newness of the site. But the idea is not *entirely* off the table should people show interest. I don't think we're quite at the point of running daily game threads, but I'm curious to see if anyone replies to this topic.

The Royals have been linked to the Red Sox's Jarren Duran for months, but are now apparently interested in the Nationals' infielder CJ Abrams and, more surprisingly, their young starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore. After the season, he declined the club’s qualifying offer and became a free agent. Anne Rogers, in her latest rundown from the Winter Meetings, mentioned that the Kansas City Royals are receiving interest in several of their young players. Noah Cameron, Ryan Bergert, and Stephen Kolek all finished 2025 on the big-league pitching staff. Cameron worked 138 1/3 innings with a 2.99 ERA, 109 hits allowed, 46 earned runs, 43 walks, and 114 strikeouts. His line included a FIP of 4.18, with 7.4 strikeouts and 2.8 walks per 9 innings. Bergert split his debut season between San Diego and Kansas City, totaling 76 1/3 innings with a 3.66 ERA, 4.00 FIP, 61 hits allowed, 35 walks, and 73 strikeouts. Kolek also pitched for both clubs in 2025 and finished with 112 2/3 innings, 98 hits allowed, 44 earned runs, 31 walks, and 77 strikeouts, producing a 3.51 ERA (3.82 FIP). From a team control and expense standpoint, all three are pre-arbitration. Players do not become arbitration-eligible until roughly three years of service, and do not reach free agency until about six years.
